(Text continues below the photo) It is nowadays a 'hot item': plastic straws. Especially in this time, where there is much to do about the gigantic mountain of litter scattered around the world that has been created by this kind of products.
In addition to these disposable straws, plastic cutlery, plates, polystyrene drinks and food packaging, stir and cotton swabs, balloon sticks and bags of thin plastic have been in the news a lot in recent years.
Tips for using straws
(Text continues below the photo) The discussion to tackle this polluting problem has led to a total ban on these products in two years in the hope of reducing their use and reducing the huge plastic mountain.
Until then you can of course use these plastic straws . And not only for what it was actually conceived. See what else you can do with it ...
1. Use it to close a bag of vacuum
(Text continues below the photo) Do you have any food left at home that is 'over'? Most people store it in a plastic Tupperware container or put it in a plastic bag. If you want these foods to stay good and tasty for longer, then you better seal the bag vacuum. And you can do that yourself with a straw: put the straw in the (almost) closed bag, suck the air out and close the bag.
2. Stick it through a strawberry
(Text continues below the photo) Most people find strawberries delicious. The only thing that is less pleasant is the tasty piece of fruit is the crown of the vucht. With this green 'hat' the strawberry hangs on the strawberry tree. When you buy a bowl of strawberries in the supermarket, you have to pick it up. That is easy when you put a straw through it.
3. Strengthen flower stems
(Text continues below the photo) When you have a bunch of flowers in your house for a few days, they will eventually hang. They die slowly because they stand in a vase in the water. Do you want the flowers to stop hanging, but to stand on end? Then you just put the stems in a straw. That strengthened a lot.
4. Use it as a scraper
(Text continues below the photo) Use your straws as a sort of scraper, with which you can get the bottom of the ketchup bottle, for example. By moving the thin plastic rod over the bottom of the bottle, the ketchup will start moving and you can therefore empty the entire bottle .
5. Find cables easier
(Text continues below the photo) Tie different colored straws over the cables that you have in your house. That can be wires from the television, stereo tower or from the computer. They all look alike. By using the different colors, you know exactly which cable belongs to which device. Handy!
6. In the planter
(Text continues below the photo) Suppose you go on vacation for a week, but are afraid that your plants will not survive that long without water. What are you doing then? You can easily solve this by filling an empty wine bottle with water, putting the cork on it and inserting a straw through it. Then turn the bottle upside down in the planter, and very slowly the water will spread in the soil in the coming days.
7. As a hair ornament
(Text continues below the photo) For the ladies: use straws as decoration in your hair. Wrap your hair around the platic tubes and let them come out a little on both sides. It is handy and it also looks artistic .
8. Make a work of art
(Text continues below the photo) Tie some colored straws together and you have your own piece of art put together. It looks bright and you can also lose your creativity. Then place the straw bundle somewhere in the house and it looks like you have made your own disco ball .
9. Make a pan flute
(Text continues below the photo) Cut a number of straws in different sizes apart. Then tie them together in a row with an adhesive tape. If you do it right, you can make your own pan flute ! There is almost no cheaper way to quickly assemble your own musical instrument.
10. Make a photo frame
(Text continues below the photo) Cut straws open lengthwise and slide them to the top and bottom of a photo. This way you can quickly and easily create your own photo frame . You are original and you can also decide for yourself which color suits you best.
11. A straw as 'pump'
(Text continues below the photo) You can also use a straw very well for a special 'trick'. Although it is pretty useless, it is nice. What do you have to do for that? Slide two straws together and place one end in a glass of water. The other half is in the sink. Then suck up the water and squeeze the straw that hangs in the sink . When you release it, it will drain all the water out of the glass by 'pumping' it up through the straw.Source: Boredom Therapy
